I’m not sure about you, but I’m over winter. The winter coats are washed and stored, and the hat and glove bin is stowed away as well. We’re done with winter in our house. If we get a random cold day, we’ll dress in layers. The budding trees are getting me excited for more spring weather, but while we wait for mother nature to warm up, we can focus on the inside.
There are so many little and inexpensive things you can do transition your home to a more spring-like vibe. Here are five ways to get you started:
MINIMAL MATTERS
Start with a clean slate. Take all your winter-inspired decor items and store them away for next year. Really think about eliminating the clutter to allow for more open and bright spaces. If you do not absolutely love something, donate or sell it so you can replace it with something you do love. We spend too much time in our homes for mediocre decor.
PLANTS WITH PROMISE
Adding spring foliage to your home is an easy way to freshen up your space. Don’t fret if you’re not good at keeping plants alive. You can go faux, just make sure it’s of a good quality. Faux or for real, adding plants and greenery just give the space loads of vibrant color, texture and life.
At HOUSEWORKS we have an assortment of vases and bowls in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors. Here are some of our favorites.
PILLOW SWAP
When you’re decluttering your spaces and storing your wintery items, don’t forget about your pillows. Swapping out your darker, chunky textured pillows for more pattern and vibrant color is a really easy and inexpensive way to bring your home into the current season. Adding a bit of quirkiness with your pillows can add lots of personality.
SMART WITH ART
An obvious choice for transitioning your home to spring is to swap out some of the decor items you have hanging on your walls. While we have lots of art (with some new arrivals you should definitely check out) you can also change up wall clocks, mirrors and bookshelf decor that is more in-line with the season.
FLOORED WITH IT
Don’t forget about your floors. We love rugs around here. They’re easy swap out, they add lots of texture, color and movement to your space, they help the flow and separation of areas. They’re a bit, well — magical. We highly recommend changing out your tired rugs for some more colorful options. HOUSEWORKS has many brands to choose from, as well as one company that allows you to completely customize your own rug with a specific color and pattern, making it a perfect match for your space.
