There is something so completely peaceful about being in nature. It’s no surprise that earthy elements and colors are trending this year. With this month being Earth Month, we figured it was perfect time to share some ways to give a nod to nature within your homes.
Earthy Colors
HOUSEWORKS designer, Paula Wright, likes to use the Sherwin Williams color of the year as inspiration for what is trending because they do a great job selecting color trends that designers are using throughout the country. This year Sherwin Williams’ Color of the Year is Evergreen Fog. It’s a very subtle, versatile, soothing color, that pairs well with both creams and grays.
While Evergreen Fog is a trending color, we’re a bit surprised at the change in trends. After being in our homes so much the last couple of years, people are looking for a peaceful environment. They’re finding that tranquility with greens and earthy creamy colors — a welcomed change after so many years of cool grays. Designer Brian McIntosh says Evergreen Fog would be a great color in a bedroom because green is a restful and peaceful color.
Bring the Outside In
Adding earthy elements in your home softens your space and adds comfort. There are so many ways to incorporate the outside, inside. Think about the materials you are using. Add natural materials like wood or bring in different textures into your fabrics with fur and wool rugs in various earth tones. Don’t forget about decorations and wall decor. There are plenty of options to choose from that will help balance and ground your spaces.
