In just a few days (on March 8th) we will celebrate women across the globe for International Women’s Day. We’ll honor the diverse, fearless females in our lives who break the bias and strive for equality and inclusivity.
With International Women’s Day in mind, we wanted to bring to light a couple of our favorite women-led brands that we all love for good reason.
Chilewich
If you’ve been into HOUSEWORKS, you’ve inevitably seen products from Chilewich — a company who is passionate about designing textiles and transforming them into beautiful, durable and easy-to-clean products. Its namesake comes from creative director and founder, Sandy Chilewich. Sandy’s innovations in textiles changed the way the world sets the table. More than twenty years later, Chilewich is much more than placemats.
A goal of Chilewich is to maximize performance while minimizing their impact. Their textiles are beautiful with distinctive colors, yet practical with their durability and easy maintenance. In the upcoming weeks, we’ll talk more about how they minimize their environmental impact, making them a product worth having around.
Younger + Co
Younger + Co was founded in 1989 by Mike Younger. Today, Younger is owned and operated by his daughter, Meredith Younger, who encompasses the same passion her father had: To create a sense of home. They do this by making beautiful, built-to-last pieces that help people create homes they love to do life in.
Each Younger piece of furniture uses material that is locally sourced from within 85 miles of their Thomasville, North Carolina factory. All of their pieces are hand-built by craftsman, for each customer, one at a time. There is great care that goes into every nail, stitch and staple.
