It’s been a year since we had to scramble for makeshift in-home work spaces for everyone in the family. One thing we hear people still struggle with, is finding enough space for the kids to do schoolwork, while the adults are occupying the home office.
If you have the space, we suggest a larger dining table. Don’t just think longer, but adding width can make a difference too! You may only be able to accommodate for a 60-inch table; however, maybe you can increase the width from 36 inches to 48 inches. Trust us. That extra foot will allow space for all the things your child’s school day calls for, and still leave space for family dinner.
Now that you’ve increased the size of your table, maybe think about amping up the rest of the space. For a full transformation, perhaps paint the walls or add an accent feature to the room. New chairs are always nice, but not a requirement. Modern design plays nicely with mixing and matching. If your budget doesn’t allow it, spring for the table and upgrade the chairs down the line.
We love a good centerpiece, but they don’t have to be expensive. Your new table is the perfect spot to try out a DIY, some of which are kid-friendly! We’re loving some of these options. Be sure to post and tag us (@indyhouseworks) with your end result— we’d love to see what you create!
